Data Note on House Prices and Property Prices
The UK property price, actual house prices and property sales information in this site is Crown Copyright. The source is H.M. Land Registry. They collect property prices information on all properties in England & Wales. Where postcode information is included with a submission, it is applied to the data immediately, the Land Registry does try to find the post code for the rest of the properties and they are added later.
This results in at least two sets of data: One set has postcodes attached to all properties (meaning that smaller areas can be analysed) but with incomplete data app 80% used for analysis at the town, postcode district and postcode sector levels. The other set includes those house prices records without postcodes and has been used for the analysis at the local authority, county, national region and all England & Wales levels.
